Despite of the fact that Liberec is quite a new town (founded in 1352), there are a lot of brownstone, especially new-renaissance buildings. The notable ones are the Town Hall, the F.X.Šalda Theatre, the Museum of North Bohemia, the Bathhouse and many churches.
The dominating landmark of Liberec is the 1012 m high television transmitter Ještěd, designed by the architect Karel Hubáček (awarded the Perret Prize).

There are also golf courses, a bobsleigh track and paintball, squash and fitness centers.
Sports fans and supporters are welcome to watch football (FC Slovan Liberec) and ice hockey (HC White Tigers Liberec) matches. Both clubs are the top chart ones and they represent Liberec in European Cups. The town is also a home of the volleyball club Dukla, basketball club Kondoři and floorball club FCB. Tipsport Arena is the venue of many other sports events.
Not only sport but also culture is a significant part of the life in Liberec. The F.X.Šalda Theatre and the Little Theatre with their good-class repertoire prove it. There are also cinemas and multiplex cinemas at the shopping centers.
Tipsport Arena has become very popular not only for sports events but also thanks to concerts and other social events, e.g. the famous Deep Purple had the concert here not long ago.
The well-known ZOO, the oldest one in Bohemia, will surely capture you. The white tigers, the unique kind, are a big allurement for visitors. For children there is an elf footpath, colored train or so-called „contact zoo“, where they can touch and pat some domestic animals. The Botanic Gardens, the most modern one in Bohemia is also worth mentioning, as well as the Museum of North Bohemia and the Regional Science Library.
